Global Cultural
Exchange
Preparing young women to become cultural ambassadors through music, leadership, international learning, and meaningful exchange.
GPTT is building a global pathway where girls do more than travel. They study, perform, host, collaborate, and carry the sound of New Orleans into the world.
Music Without Borders
The world becomes the classroom.
The Global Cultural Exchange Program expands the mission of Girls Play Trumpets Too by connecting young women to cultures, communities, and musicians beyond New Orleans.
Through travel preparation, cultural education, international collaboration, visiting students, and partner-led exchange experiences, GPTT students learn how to represent themselves, their city, and their music with confidence.
This is not simply a travel program. It is a leadership pathway that uses music as the bridge to global understanding.
What this program makes possible
- Girls see themselves as global citizens and cultural ambassadors.
- Students experience music as a language shared across borders.
- International students and artists can learn from New Orleans culture.
- Partners can invest in education, representation, and opportunity.
More than music. More than travel.
Every exchange is built around preparation, cultural respect, musical excellence, and leadership development.
Music
Performance, masterclasses, jazz heritage, ensemble work, and cross-cultural collaboration.
Culture

Where the exchange lives
GPTT is developing global exchange opportunities connected to Scandinavia, Belize, and Tanzania while continuing to build additional cultural partnerships.

- Public speaking and professional conduct
- Passport readiness and travel preparation
- Safety, wellness, and team responsibility
- Representing New Orleans music with excellence
One trumpet. Three valves. A world of sound.
The three-valve design idea from the provided concept works well as a GPTT metaphor: each global connection changes the note, expands the sound, and gives the girls a new way to understand the world.
Three ways to participate
Become a Cultural Ambassador
GPTT students prepare through music, leadership, cultural learning, and program readiness before being considered for exchange opportunities.
Support the Exchange
Families can help host visiting students, support preparation activities, and help students share their exchange stories with the community.
Build With GPTT
Schools, universities, cultural institutions, embassies, funders, and arts organizations can help create pathways for exchange.
Moments from the exchange
Use this section as a living scrapbook. Replace these placeholders with real photos, short student reflections, travel journals, rehearsal clips, and partner visits as the program grows.
